Anthony Boateng has over two decades of proven successes in inter-governmental organizations, NGOs and the private sector across corporate finance management and operational leadership. Specializes in governance, strategy and financial management. Combines big-picture thinking with meticulous attention to detail, adept at putting in place the systems, processes, teams and measurement tools to ensure financial goals are met from the staff level to overall corporate level. Offers wide-ranging experience instituting the policies and controls needed to protect financial integrity and manage risks, with impressive results in accuracy and accountability for the complete financial management cycle. Anthony is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Commercial Law. Anthony is the current Chairman of the Research and Development Panel for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and immediate past Chair, African Regional Board of CIMA. Anthony is the lead consultant for the institutional sustainability support for seven African institutions located in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania Senegal and Nigeria. The project sponsored by the Think Tank Initiative (DFID, Gates Foundation, Hewlett Foundation, NORAD and IDRC) led by International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Ottawa, seeks to use action research to address capacity building gaps in governance, institutional strengthening and financial management.

Anthony was the lead consultant in the setup of West Africa Think Tank Network (WATTNet) in 2016, an initiative by think tanks in the region. The Network seeks to establish a West African platform which enables sustained collaboration between research institutions in the region. The Network also provides policy analysis to respond to the needs of national, regional and international development actors, including institutions such as ECOWAS, African Development Bank (AfDB) and West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). Anthony was the Director, Finance & Administration at the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), a think tank located in Accra, Ghana. In his position, Anthony managed and led the Finance, Administration, Legal and Human Resource functions of the organization and doubled as Secretary to the Board of Directors.

Anthony was involved in the setup of the Extractives department in ACET which provided both policy analysis and advisory services in the extractives sector for various African countries. The services provided included; developing a petroleum sector reform and local content policy for the governments of Liberia and Sierra Leone; providing technical assistance for the Republic of Guinea in negotiating their mining (iron ore) contracts with Rio Tinto and other private sector actors; reviewing the gas management plan for Mozambique; and assessing the effectiveness of the regulatory capacity and local content policy for Zambia. Before joining ACET, Anthony worked for the International Cospas-Sarsat Programme, an intergovernmental organization in Montréal, Canada. Anthony’s direct impact was made in the re-organization and transformation of the entire financial systems and strategy. He also established Cospas-Sarsat as a separate legal entity in London, UK after its split from the parent organization, Inmarsat, UK. During his work with Cospas-Sarsat, Anthony served as the key liaison person during negotiations with both the Federal and Provincial Governments of Canada for the Headquarters Agreements between the Organization and Government of Canada. Prior to working with Cospas-Sarsat, Anthony worked as Group Financial Controller with the Business Development Partnership Ltd in London, UK, where he actively championed a successful Management Buyout (MBO) operation within the organization. Anthony also sits on other national and international Boards in various sectors including Insurance, Health and Technology.
