About Us
The Foundation for Special Surgery (FSS) is a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to providing highly complex surgical care in communities around the world where the need is great, but the expertise is lacking. Our work has taken us to several communities in Peru, Mexico, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Liberia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda and Cameroon. The unmet surgical burden is high in these countries but capacity to provide complex surgical care is low.

Our Mission
The mission of the Foundation for Special Surgery is to provide the highest level of specialized surgical care to patients in Africa and other underserved communities around the word. The Foundation is committed to being the leader in training the next generation of sub-specialized local surgeons by enlisting the participation of leading surgeons across various specialties to provide premium care, skills transfer and education to benefit patients and the long-term sustainability of complex surgical care.
